Honda June 2025 Sales Report: Numbers Decline Year-On-Year

1 min read

Honda Cars India reported a total of 5,124 units sold in June 2025. This includes 4,618 units sold domestically and 506 units exported. Compared to June 2024, when total sales stood at 9,776 units, 4,804 domestic and 4,972 exports, this marks a sharp 47.5% overall decline. The drop in exports was especially severe, falling nearly 90%, while domestic sales were down 3.9% year-on-year.

These figures indicate the company is facing challenges in both domestic and overseas markets. Export numbers have decreased substantially, suggesting reduced demand or strategic changes, while domestic performance has also slightly dipped amid cautious buyer sentiment and broader market pressures.

Consistent Domestic Sales Despite Limited Lineup

The domestic figure of 4,618 units is in line with Honda’s recent monthly sales, primarily supported by the City and Amaze sedans. These two models continue to account for most of Honda’s domestic output. However, the company’s overall portfolio remains small compared to other manufacturers, who have expanded aggressively in the SUV category.

Hopes On The Festive Season

Looking ahead, Honda has indicated potential product activity in the coming months, although no official details have been announced. Reports suggest a new compact SUV or updated variants of existing models may be on the way. The upcoming festive season, typically associated with increased vehicle purchases, could provide an opportunity for a short-term sales rebound if new models are introduced on time.

Automakers across the industry usually witness a spike in sales during this period due to buyer incentives, financing offers, and seasonal demand. Whether Honda can benefit from this cycle depends largely on its ability to deliver relevant products during that window.

Reduced Exports

While exports have dropped dramatically, the company continues to ship limited volumes. This indicates a minimal but ongoing effort to keep Indian manufacturing integrated into global supply chains. Maintaining this connection could be important if Honda expands hybrid or electric vehicle production in the future, aligning with broader international trends.

Outlook Remains Cautious

Honda’s current strategy appears to prioritize its core offerings without pursuing aggressive volume growth. The absence of newer SUV entries puts the company at a disadvantage in a market that increasingly favours that segment. The next quarter, particularly the festive period, will be crucial in determining whether sales stabilize or decline further.

As of now, monthly sales continue to hover around the 5,000-unit mark, showing consistency but also underscoring the need for updated offerings to regain competitiveness in the Indian auto market.
