1 min read

Honda has launched a cosmetic upgrade for the Honda City, naming it the City Sports Edition. It’s a limited-edition with a price tag of ₹14.88 lakh (ex-showroom). It gets reworked interior and exterior design elements and is based on the V variant of the City.

What’s New?

The cars gets a sporty black grille, black trunk lip spoiler at the rear, glossy black shark fin antenna, multi-spoke sporty grey alloy wheels, black ORVMs and an exclusive Sport emblem. The City Sport will be offered in three colours: Radiant Red Metallic, Platinum White Pearl, and Meteoroid Grey Metallic.

Interior

To complement the sporty exterior, the City Sport interior gets an all-black treatment, with every element of the cabin blackened, including the roofline. Red contrast stitching has been implemented throughout the cabin, with black leatherette seats, a black dashboard, black door panels, a black steering wheel and a black gear selector.

The car gets red accents throughout the cabin, the most prominent one being under the AC vents and the infotainment cluster. It also comes equipped with Multi-colour (7‑colour) rhythmic ambient lighting.

Powertrain

Under the hood, the City Sport has the same powertrain standard Honda City, which is powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, delivering approximately 120 BHP and 145 NM of torque, accompanied by a CVT automatic gearbox. This engine is reliable and potent, known for its free-revving nature and 7,000 RPM redline.

Tech & Safety

Honda City Sports comes equipped with Honda’s own Honda SENSING Level 2 ADAS suite, which provides features like Lane Keep Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Collision Mitigation Braking and some other driver-assist functions. It gets six airbags as standard.

It’s equipped with the same amenities as the V variant with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, push-button start/stop, auto AC, cruise control, steering-mounted controls, and a 4-speaker sound system.

Conclusion

The Honda City Sport focuses more on aesthetic changes, but the powertrain remains the same. The ex-showroom pricing has gone up by ₹49,000. The edition certainly brings a new and sporty look to the City, but that’s that; there are no changes mechanically.
