Honda has revealed its all-new “0 Series” of electric vehicles, marking a major step toward its global electrification goals. The lineup was previewed at the Japan Mobility Show 2025, where the 0 Alpha electric SUV prototype made its debut. Positioned as Honda’s first dedicated global EV platform, the 0 Series represents a complete rethink of how the company approaches electric mobility. It will be the series’ first production model, and will arrive in India by 2027 as a CBU. It will play a central role in Honda’s plan to transition away from internal combustion models in key markets. The company aims to achieve 100 percent electric vehicle sales globally by 2040. The new 0 Series will serve as a cornerstone in reaching that milestone.

Design Philosophy & Platform Details

The 0 Alpha embodies a clean and futuristic design language described by Honda as “thin, light, and wise.” Unlike earlier EV conversions based on petrol models, the 0 Series has been developed from the ground up as an electric platform. The SUV features a long wheelbase, a flat floor, and short overhangs to maximize cabin space with its boxy design at the rear. The front and rear styling include minimalist surfaces and slim LED lighting elements. Inside, the focus is on visibility and openness, with a horizontal dashboard layout, digital instrument screens, and a sustainable materials approach. Honda has confirmed that all 0 Series models will use a newly developed e-axle system and a low-profile battery pack designed to reduce weight and improve energy efficiency.

Powertrain Expectations

Although Honda has not yet disclosed full specifications, it has revealed that it will offer the 0 Alpha SUV in both RWD and AWD configurations. The model will come with different battery pack sizes, between 80 kWh and 100 kWh, and will deliver a driving range of around 500 KM. Charging capabilities may include 800V architecture for faster replenishment. The company plans to emphasize advanced technologies such as Level 3 autonomous driving. A newly developed operating system called ASIMO OS will form the core of these EVs. It will integrate and control the vehicle’s ECUs, driver-assistance systems, and infotainment functions. The OS will also enable over-the-air (OTA) updates for continuous improvements. The SUV will incorporate advanced safety systems under Honda SENSING. As a result, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and collision mitigation will likely be offered as standard.

India Launch Plans

The Honda 0 Alpha will mark a shift from the brand’s earlier strategy of adapting existing petrol models into EVs. The company has reportedly shelved the Elevate EV project to focus on introducing this global model instead. Honda will likely assemble the 0 Alpha at its Tapukara facility in Rajasthan. The company may localize battery components depending on supply chain readiness by 2027. In terms of pricing and positioning, the SUV will likely compete with mid-size electric SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta Electric and Mahindra BE6. The brand’s clear focus on global standardization and long-term sustainability could help it carve a fresh identity in India’s growing electric vehicle market.
