Citroen has started production of the Basalt Coupe SUV in India at its Thiruvallur plant in Tamil Nadu, before the model’s official launch. The Basalt has been frequently spotted during testing, building anticipation for its release.
The Basalt is the fifth model from Citroen since entering the Indian market in early 2021. The crossover is expected to debut in India in a couple of months, with deliveries likely to begin around the festive season later this year.
Citroen Basalt — Exterior:
The Basalt stands out with its sleek and cool design, featuring a coupe’s signature sloping roofline and new stylish alloy wheels. The front design resembles the C3 Aircross, while the rear is distinctively crafted with sharp-looking taillights. Other exterior highlights include faux skid plates on the front, gloss black claddings on squared wheel arches, door sills, and rear bumpers.
Citroen Basalt — Engine:
Under the hood, the Basalt will be powered by the same 1.2L turbo-petrol engine found in the C3 Aircross, delivering 109 HP and 190 NM, 205 NM in the AT. It will come with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed AT, with no diesel engine option available.
