Citroën is reportedly considering launching its all-electric e-SpaceTourer MPV in the Indian market. If introduced, the e-SpaceTourer would mark the first people-mover from the French carmaker in India.
Size & Dimensions

The Citroën e-SpaceTourer is based on the EMP2 platform and offers seating configurations for up to nine occupants in international markets. It measures over 5333 MM in length with a wheelbase of 3275 MM in the XL size.
The van is offered in three sizes globally, XS, M and XL, with the M variant considered the most balanced in terms of space and manoeuvrability. Citroën has not indicated which configuration may be brought to India.
Powertrain & Range

Globally, the e-SpaceTourer comes with a 50 KWH or 75 KWH lithium-ion battery pack. The smaller pack offers a claimed range of 224 KM, while the larger unit claims to offer 330 KM of range. A 100 KW DC fast charger can recharge the battery to 80% in a claimed 30 minutes.
The single front-mounted electric motor produces 136 BHP and 260 NM of torque. Top speed is electronically limited to 130 KM/H. The MPV is primarily developed for urban and intercity people transport, not high-speed cruising.
Market Positioning & Segment

The MPV segment in India has largely remained dominated by diesel-powered vehicles like the Toyota Innova Crysta and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. In the premium segment, the Kia Carnival and Toyota Vellfire are currently hot sellers, with the upcoming MG M9 EV providing electric competition in this space.

The Citroën e-SpaceTourer would position itself alongside the MG M9, Carnival & Vellfire as a full-size electric MPV. Its large footprint and multi-seat configuration seating could appeal to operators. It isn’t as tech-laden or luxuriously appointed as its competition, though, and combined with the fact that it’d be a CBU import, everything depends on how it’s priced.
Localisation, Timelines & Pricing

Citroën India has not confirmed localisation plans for the e-SpaceTourer. The brand currently assembles the C3 and C3 Aircross locally, while the ë-C3 EV also sees limited localisation. If launched as a CBU, the e-SpaceTourer is expected to cost upwards of Rs 60 Lakh.
