BYD is one of the very few car manufacturers whose range is completely electric. The lineup includes the Seal, E6 and the revised Atto 3. The Atto 3 is BYD’s answer to the MG ZS and the discontinued Hyundai Kona. With the latest update, BYD has taken significant steps to price it aggressively.

What Major Updates Does The Atto 3 Get?

The BYD Atto 3 is available in 3 trims- Dynamic, Premium and Superior. The pricing starts at 25 lakh rupees which is a staggering 9 lakh rupee cut for the starting price. Previously, the Atto 3 was offered in a one-off trim which came with all the bells and whistles. But thanks to a lower trim, BYD were able to cut costs and price it attractively. Expectedly the lower trims miss out on a few features than the previous model.

The Dynamic, or the base trim, gets a new 49.92 kWh battery with a claimed range of 468 km. The Premium and Superior trim get a 60.48 kWH battery which can 521 km between charges. Across all these lineups, you get a standard single front-axle motor which is capable of producing more than 200 horsepower and 310 newtonmetres of torque.

What Effects Can These Updates Have?

The feature list is pretty impressive all round. The lower trims lack luxuries like electric tailgate and ADAS. But you get important features like a 360-degree camera, a massive 12.8-inch infotainment display and a panoramic sunroof. Aesthetically, not much has changed. The exteriors look underwhelming for a 25 lakh plus car and there aren’t any remarkable design features. Once you step inside, you are greeted with a sleek dashboard and a big infotainment screen, which can be set vertically or horizontally.

The price range starts from 25 lakh rupees and tops out at 34 lakh rupees. It has no direct rivals since the MG ZS costs less than the Atto 3 while the Ioniq 5 costs more than 5 lakh rupees more. Thanks to the drastic changes in pricing, BYD intends to increase its market share in the Indian EV market. The new Dynamic variant helps make the BYD Atto 3 much more attractive to potential customers than before.
