BYD e6 Facelift To Be Called eMax7

Ahead of the soon to be launched updated e6, the upcoming facelift of the car has been renamed as the ‘eMax7‘ and globally, BYD offer it under the ‘M6’ badge. For India, it is expected to feature a fresh design, new features and more range.

What Is ‘eMax7’?

  • The ‘e‘ indicates that it’s an EV
  • Max‘ represents improved performance and range
  • 7‘ denotes that it succeeds the e6

Also, it will now be available in a three row seating layout, as either a six or seven seater; While the current e6 is only offered with a five seat configuration.

Exterior

To have the same body style and overall silhouette as its predecessor but will have some design tweaks which are likely to be the same as the internationally sold M6. Redesigned LED headlights and front grille inspired by the BYD Atto 3, new alloy wheel design and tweaked LED tail lights are the expected changes to styling. 

Interior

The global spec car comes with a dual tone cabin theme along with an updated dashboard design. The centre console is also revised and the drive mode selector is new as well. 

Features And Safety

A bigger 12.8-inch rotating touchscreen, wireless phone charging, a panoramic glass roof and ventilated front seats shared with the M6.

Safety kit could include six airbags, 360-degree cameras, tyre pressure monitoring and all wheel disc brakes. It might also get level 2 ADAS including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, blind spot monitoring and automatic high beam assist.

Powertrain

Globally, the M6 gets two battery pack options: 55.4 or 71.8 kWh, the smaller comes mated to a 163 HP electric motor, while the larger is paired with a 204 HP unit which also has a claimed range of up to 530 Km under the New European Driving Cycle (N.E.D.C.) and includes vehicle to load (V2L) functionality. 

Price And Rivals

Expect it to carry a slight premium over the current price, which is ₹29.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

It has no direct competitors but is similarly priced and serves as an electric alternative to the Toyota Innova duo, Hycross and Crysta.
