The BYD Atto 2 has been spotted on Indian roads, indicating preparations for a potential market launch. The model is positioned as an entry-level option below the Atto 3 in BYD’s lineup. It was first unveiled at the 2025 Brussels Motor Show and is marketed as the Yuan Up in China and Yuan Pro in Brazil. The test mule spotted in India featured camouflage.

Key Features

The Atto 2 measures 4310 MM in length, 1830 MM in width, 1675 MM in height, and has a wheelbase of 2620 MM. It adopts a boxier exterior design compared to the Atto 3, with elements such as slim LED headlights, a closed grille for aerodynamics, and 16-inch alloy wheels. The vehicle is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0, which supports battery integration and modular construction. Safety equipment includes six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, hill-start assist, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Additional features include a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors, and ISOFIX child seat mounts. The model is expected to offer multiple colour options, including solid and dual-tone schemes, to appeal to urban buyers.

Performance & Range

In its Chinese specification, the Atto 2 is equipped with a front-mounted electric motor that delivers 175 BHP and 290 NM of torque. It pairs with a 45.1kWh Blade battery, providing a claimed range of 380 KM under the NEDC cycle. The car gets DC fast charging up to 80 kW, allowing a claimed 30-80% charge in approximately 30 minutes, and AC charging at 7kW for home use. Acceleration from 0 to 100 KM/H is estimated at 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 160 KM/H.

Interior & Technology

The cabin features a dual-screen setup with a 12.8-inch rotatable infotainment touchscreen and an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster. The system runs on BYD’s DiLink OS, supporting over-the-air updates, voice commands, and connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. As standard, features include automatic climate control, keyless entry, push-button start, and a wireless phone charger. You get fabric upholstery in the base model, changing to synthetic leather in higher variants. Features like a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, and a six-speaker audio system are also present.

Conclusion

The Atto 2 would expand options in the affordable EV market, supporting BYD’s goal of increasing its market share to 10% by 2027. Official announcements are expected in the coming months, with pre-bookings potentially opening by Q4 2025. It would mark the first global electric car to be sold at an affordable price in India.
