BMW India has officially commenced bookings for the updated 2026 BMW 7 Series and the all-electric BMW i7. The luxury sedan duo arrives with a mid-life refresh just over three months after their global debut. Customers can now book both models through BMW dealerships across India or via the company’s official website.

The facelift introduces subtle styling revisions, a significantly upgraded cabin and improved powertrains. BMW has also enhanced technology, comfort and electric driving capabilities, making its flagship sedan even more competitive in India’s luxury segment.

BMW 7 Series Facelift Gets Refreshed Exterior

The updated BMW 7 Series features a cleaner and more modern front fascia. The biggest highlight is the redesigned illuminated kidney grille, which now looks slimmer and more sophisticated than before.

The split LED headlamp setup has also been redesigned. The upper section houses the daytime running lights, while the main lighting units sit lower within the bumper near the air curtains. Together, these changes give the sedan a sharper road presence.

From the side, the luxury sedan retains its elegant silhouette with flush door handles and a new alloy wheel design. BMW has also added an embossed ‘7’ logo on the B-pillar, which becomes visible when both doors on one side are opened.

At the rear, slimmer LED tail-lamps now extend further into the tailgate. Chrome detailing, smoked glass elements and a revised diffuser-style rear bumper complete the updated look.

Cabin Gets Major Technology Upgrade

Inside, the facelifted BMW 7 Series receives one of its biggest updates. The dashboard now features a large 17.9-inch central touchscreen alongside a new 14.6-inch passenger display.

Instead of a conventional instrument cluster, BMW now uses a full-width projection display positioned at the base of the windscreen. The infotainment system runs the latest BMW Operating System X with over-the-air updates, wireless Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay and enhanced voice controls.

BMW has also introduced a new four-spoke steering wheel inspired by the brand’s classic models.

Luxury & Comfort Reach A New Level

The flagship sedan comes equipped with premium comfort features as standard. Buyers get electrically adjustable seats with heating, ventilation, massage, lumbar support and heated armrests.

A Bowers & Wilkins Surround Sound System with up to 18 speakers is also standard. BMW has redesigned the ambient lighting with illuminated dashboard elements, rear speaker grilles and additional lighting behind the front seats.

Rear passengers benefit from improved comfort as the front passenger seat can slide further forward to maximise legroom.

Rear Entertainment Receives Significant Improvements

BMW has upgraded the rear-seat entertainment package with a new 31.3-inch 8K Theatre Screen. The display supports video streaming, gaming and video calls, delivering a premium in-car entertainment experience.

The touchscreens integrated into the rear doors have also been updated. These displays allow passengers to adjust the Theatre Screen, control seat functions and operate various cabin settings more conveniently.

BMW has also revised the automatic door controls by repositioning the open and close buttons for easier access.

Petrol, Diesel & Electric Powertrains Upgraded

The BMW 740i xDrive continues with its 3.0-litre inline-six mild-hybrid petrol engine. It now produces 400 HP and 580 NM, representing an increase over the previous model.

The 740d xDrive diesel also receives higher output. The 3.0-litre inline-six mild-hybrid diesel engine now develops 313 HP and 670 NM. Both variants continue with an 8-speed automatic transmission and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system.

The BMW i7 also receives important updates. The new i7 50 xDrive replaces the previous rear-wheel-drive version and now comes with all-wheel drive and a larger 112.4 kWh battery pack.

Power increases to 455 HP and 660 NM. Meanwhile, the flagship i7 M70 xDrive now produces 680 HP and up to 1,100 NM while retaining the larger battery pack.
