BMW has launched the M440i Convertible in India at an ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.09 crore. The luxury performance convertible enters the Indian market as a niche lifestyle offering with a soft-top roof and a six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine. The M440i Convertible rivals the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, which is priced at Rs. 1.16 crore, ex-showroom.

Exterior Design & Styling

The BMW M440i Convertible carries the familiar 4 Series design language with several sporty elements. Up front, it features slim LED headlamps with DRLs and BMW’s large kidney grille design.

Additionally, the bumper gets functional air intakes for engine cooling. The rear section includes wraparound LED tail lamps and dual exhaust outlets, while the soft-top roof gives the convertible a distinct profile.

Soft-Top Roof Mechanism

Unlike the older-generation 4 Series Convertible that used a folding hard-top setup, the new M440i adopts a fabric soft-top roof.

BMW states that the roof can open or close in 18 seconds at speeds of up to 50 KM/H. This setup also helps reduce weight compared to the previous hard-top system.

Wheels & Dimensions

The M440i Convertible rides on 19-inch alloy wheels with a staggered tyre setup. The front wheels use 225/45 R19 tyres, while the rear gets wider 255/35 R19 tyres.

Furthermore, the convertible retains a two-door body style with a 2+2 seating configuration. Rear-seat access is possible by folding the front passenger seat forward.

Interior & Technology

Inside, the BMW M440i Convertible features a dual-screen dashboard layout with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver display.

The cabin also includes a flat-bottom steering wheel with physical controls, leather upholstery, and electrically adjustable front seats with memory function. BMW has additionally equipped the convertible with a head-up display and wireless phone charging.

Features & Safety

BMW offers the M440i Convertible with several premium features and driver assistance systems. Key highlights include a 12-speaker Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive cruise control, automatic climate control, and a tyre-pressure monitoring system.

Moreover, the convertible gets all-wheel drive for improved traction and stability across different road conditions.

Engine & Performance

Powering the BMW M440i Convertible is a 3.0-litre straight-six turbo-petrol engine producing 374 BHP and 500 NM of torque.

The engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive all-wheel-drive system. BMW claims a 0-100 KM/H time of 4.9 seconds, while top speed remains electronically limited to 250 KM/H.

Prices In India

BMW has priced the M440i Convertible at Rs. 1.09 crore, ex-showroom. The model arrives in India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Its primary rival, the Mercedes-Benz CLE Cabriolet, currently carries an ex-showroom price of Rs. 1.16 crore in India.

Conclusion

The BMW M440i Convertible expands the brand’s premium performance lineup in India with a six-cylinder engine, soft-top roof, and luxury-focused cabin. Positioned as a lifestyle-oriented convertible, the model targets buyers looking for open-top driving combined with everyday usability and modern technology features.
