BMW just rolled out the BMW iX1 long-wheelbase, which is similar to the regular X1 in terms of looks, but what’s the catch then? Let’s find out.
Adaptive LED headlights: The all new BMW iX1 LWB comes up with the iconic 4-eye front fascia features headlights as well as cornering features, which turns with steering inputs, along with this, it also has adaptive head beams assist.
BMW kidney grille with mesh pattern provides it an aggressive look and makes it more evolutionary. It also has 6 parking sensors at the front bumpers for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which is level two ADAS which is radar-based, ensuring perfect safety features on offer.
This car has been revised by 2800mm of wheelbase, 116mm longer than regular one, making its cabin so spacious with better legroom and under-thigh support. BMW has also reclined the backrest which also intensify the comfort level when you sit in the rear seats of this car.
The iX1LWB offers you 490 liters of boot-space which is humongous in this segment. The seats also can be turn-up by 40-20-40 split wise. Also, the 18 inches alloy design look stunning, but it seems to be smaller in this long-wheelbase car. The ground clearance is around 190mm.
The center console feels to be in the air, which has an ample amount of space underneath. The Harmon Kardon sound system delivers a perfect crystal clear sound, consisting of 12 speakers, which delivers an impressive output of 205W. The iX1 LWB also includes the M- sport package which amplify the look and feel of this particular car. The steering is made up of leather displaying M- badging. A massive panoramic sunroof also elevates its cabin experience but it’s a fixed glass piece or rather you can say it’s a moonroof.
However, BMW does not provide sun blinds in this price segment, which is quite disappointing, as well as no height adjustable seatbelts in the front passenger seats. The rear seats are also revised with an increase of 15mm length which magnifies the comfort level in the rear seats.
Moreover, BMW is providing plenty of features through subscription like onboard navigation, certain drive modes, and spare wheels but it misses out the basic features like there is no seat ventilation, no seat massage functions and no 360 degree camera as well.
The dashboard and center console is quite practical in this car which has plenty of features, providing a sleek touch-screen. It has plenty of ambient lighting and attention to the details. Every single single feature in the interior is just mind-blowing.
This car has better driving dynamics with a new 64Kwh battery powering a single motor setup which produces 204HP, delivered to the front axle wheels. The 64kwh battery produces an ample amount of range, which is 531km. BMW claims that this battery can supply a range of up to 125km in only 10 minutes of charging, which is interesting. BMW claims that this single motor setup can go from zero to hundred in only 8.6 seconds. The driving dynamics of this car is expected to be decent, where the single setup motor can offer you a decent amount of torque and handlings.
The estimated price of this car is around 49 lakhs INR to 79 lakhs (ex-showroom), making it an entry level BMW. This car will compete with the Mercedes Benz EQA, Volvo EX40 and Mini Countryman Electric. BMW has started the deliveries for the iX1 LWB in India.
