BMW has updated the 5 Series Long Wheelbase in India with new comfort and safety features, while keeping its ex-showroom price unchanged at ₹73.35 lakh for the sole 530Li M Sport LWB variant. The luxury sedan continues to be offered only in the 530Li M Sport LWB variant. Positioned between the 3 Series Gran Limousine and the 7 Series, the 5 Series LWB competes with the Mercedes E Class LWB, Audi A6 and Lexus ES. This update focuses on enhancing cabin ambience and active safety, rather than altering the exterior design or mechanical setup. BMW had earlier responded to customer feedback by making 19‑inch alloy wheels standard from mid‑2025 without changing the 5 Series LWB’s price, and this latest update builds on that approach.

Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge Enhances Cabin Feel

The most noticeable change is the addition of the Panorama Glassroof Sky Lounge. This illuminated panoramic roof uses a printed graphic on the glass along with integrated LED elements. The lighting works in sync with the ambient lighting system and can change colours based on selected drive modes. Unlike a regular panoramic sunroof, the illumination remains visible even during daytime conditions. The larger glass area also allows more natural light into the cabin, which improves the sense of space, especially for rear seat occupants. Since the 5 Series LWB places strong emphasis on chauffeur driven comfort, this update directly improves the rear cabin experience.

Driving Assistant Plus Adds Active Safety

BMW has also introduced the Driving Assistant Plus package on the 5 Series LWB. This system adds several active driver assistance features aimed at reducing driver workload. Key functions include lane change warning, front and rear collision warning, and cross traffic alert. It also brings Active Cruise Control with Stop and Go, which can maintain distance from the vehicle ahead and bring the car to a complete halt if traffic stops. The system detects stationary vehicles and resumes smoothly when traffic moves again. All these features are controlled through steering mounted buttons, keeping operation simple while driving.

Powertrain & Variant Line Up Remain Unchanged

Mechanically, the 5 Series LWB continues with the same 2.0-litre four cylinder turbo petrol engine paired with a 48V mild hybrid system. The engine produces 258 HP and 400 NM, while the mild hybrid setup can briefly add up to 11 HP and 25 NM during acceleration. Power goes to the rear wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. BMW continues to offer the sedan only in the 530Li M Sport LWB variant, which prioritises rear legroom and ride comfort. By adding features without revising prices, BMW strengthens the value proposition of the 5 Series LWB.
