BMW India has made a minor update to the 5 Series sedan lineup by introducing 19-inch alloy wheels as a standard wheel size. This change replaces the smaller 18-inch alloy wheels that were earlier offered by default, while larger wheels had remained optional.
Exterior Change Limited To Wheels

The most visible update to the 5 Series is the inclusion of the larger wheels, which now come as standard across the range. These 19-inch alloys offer a fuller look in the wheel arches and align more closely with the standard wheel sizes found in some rival executive sedans. Other aspects of the exterior remain unchanged, with the car maintaining its existing body lines, grille design, and lighting elements. No revisions have been made to the headlamps, bumpers, or tail section. As a result, this update doesn’t reflect a facelift or generational shift but rather a configuration change within the existing model cycle.
Interior Features & Equipment

Inside, the 5 Series continues with its previously available equipment and layout. The dashboard houses a digital instrument cluster and infotainment display. Gesture control, a head-up display, and powered front seats remain part of the feature set in certain trims. A panoramic sunroof, ambient interior lighting, and wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included.
Interior materials include leather upholstery and soft-touch plastics, which are standard across most premium sedans in this category. The Harman Kardon sound system is available on select variants, and the cabin configuration remains unchanged.
Powertrain & Performance

The 5 Series in India currently comes with only a petrol powertrain. The 530Li variant uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces approximately 255 horsepower and 400 NM of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels through an 8-speed automatic transmission. The claimed mileage is up to 15.7 KMPL.
The 0–100 km/h acceleration time for this variant is around 6.5 seconds, which places it competitively among other luxury sedans in its class. BMW has not made any mechanical changes as part of this update. The car’s suspension and steering characteristics are also unchanged.
Market Position & Price

Executive sedans like the BMW 5 Series continue to serve a segment of buyers who prioritise comfort and handling over SUV-like ride height. Though newer SUVs have entered similar price ranges, sedans maintain a presence due to their lower centre of gravity and handling dynamics.
As of now, the BMW 5 Series starts at approximately ₹74.4 lakh (ex-showroom), with prices varying by optional equipment. The addition of 19-inch wheels does not appear to have significantly altered pricing but slightly enhances the car’s exterior stance.
This tire change comes ahead of an expected generational update in the coming years. Until then, the revised wheel setup could be the only new addition to the lineup, offering a modest visual change without altering the core specifications or features of the car.
