Audi SQ8 Bookings Open: What To Expect

2 min read

The new Audi SQ8 will launch in India on March 17, 2026, and Audi India has opened bookings for the performance SUV for a token amount of 5 lakh Rupees, which in itself is no small amount. The SQ8 positions itself between the standard Q8 model and the full-fledged RSQ8, bringing a balance of performance and daily livability.

While the SQ8 was initially launched in 2019, which was followed by the SQ8 facelift in September 2023, the facelifted SQ8 will bring notable changes from the standard Q8 model and the pre-facelift SQ8. Let’s take a look at what new changes the SQ8 brings.

Exterior Design & Visual Presence

The SQ8 facelift retains the coupe-style SUV profile of the earlier model and introduces several styling revisions. The front fascia now features a redesigned Singleframe grille with updated octagonal elements and larger air inlets in the bumper. The front spoiler and air intakes also receive aluminium-finished accents that distinguish the SQ8 from the standard Q8.

Audi has also updated the rear section with a revised diffuser and a simplified full-width light bar. Overall proportions remain unchanged, but the facelift places greater emphasis on lighting design and minor surface refinements rather than a complete redesign.

Lighting & Design Changes

The most noticeable change in the facelifted SQ8 is the lighting technology. The SUV now uses updated Matrix LED headlamps with a revised internal structure and optional laser high-beam functionality for improved illumination.

Audi has also introduced OLED tail lamps for the rear lighting system. These lights can change their pattern depending on driving conditions and can activate additional lighting segments when another vehicle approaches from behind. The facelift also adds selectable daytime running light signatures, allowing drivers to choose from multiple DRL designs through the infotainment system.

Wheels, Colours & Exterior Updates

The facelift introduces additional wheel designs and new exterior colours. Audi now offers alloy wheel options ranging from 21 to 23 inches, including newly designed multi-spoke patterns that were not available on the earlier version.
Three new paint options have also been added to the palette, including Chili Red, Ascari Blue, and Sakhir Gold. While these updates are largely cosmetic, they help visually distinguish the facelift model from the outgoing SQ8, which was previously sold globally.

Interior & Technology

Inside the cabin, the overall dashboard layout remains largely unchanged. The SQ8 continues to use Audi’s dual-touchscreen interface with a 10.1-inch upper infotainment screen and an 8.6-inch lower display for climate controls.

However, the facelift introduces additional interior trim options and upholstery combinations. Audi has expanded the selection of decorative inlays with materials such as carbon twill, aluminium linear silver, and fine-grain ash. The digital instrument cluster and connected technology features remain similar to the previous model but continue to form a central part of the driving interface.

Powertrain & Driving Experience

Mechanically, the facelifted SQ8 remains largely unchanged from its predecessor. It continues to use a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 petrol engine paired with an eight-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission and Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive system.

The engine produces approximately 500 HP and 770 NM of torque. The SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 KM/H in around 4.1 seconds.
Adaptive air suspension and a sport differential remain part of the package, allowing the vehicle to balance comfort and performance despite its large dimensions.

India Market Context

In the Indian market, the SQ8 will occupy a niche position within the luxury performance SUV segment. It will sit above the standard Audi Q8 and below the RS Q8 in Audi’s lineup.
Potential rivals include the Mercedes-AMG GLE 53 Coupe and BMW X6 M Competition. These models target buyers looking for a combination of high performance and coupe-style SUV design, a segment that has seen steady growth in India’s luxury vehicle market.

Expected Price In India

Audi has not yet officially announced the price of the SQ8 for India. However, industry estimates suggest an ex-showroom price in the range of ₹1.5 crore to ₹2 crore, depending on specifications and options.
This would position the SQ8 between the Audi Q8 and the more expensive RS Q8 in the brand’s performance SUV lineup. The model is expected to be imported as a Completely Built Unit, which typically results in higher pricing compared to locally assembled luxury vehicles.

Conclusion

The Audi SQ8 facelift represents an incremental update rather than a full redesign. The changes focus mainly on exterior styling revisions, updated lighting technology, and expanded customization options inside the cabin.
For the Indian market, the model will offer a high-performance SUV alternative within Audi’s flagship lineup. With its twin-turbo V8 engine and coupe-style design, the SQ8 will continue to target buyers looking for a combination of luxury, performance, and distinctive styling in the premium SUV seg
