Audi India has confirmed the launch of the new RS 5 in the country, bringing back the high-performance luxury sedan in an all-new generation. Revealed globally earlier this year in Avant and Saloon body styles, the India-bound model will arrive only in the sedan form as a CBU (completely built unit). While Audi has not yet revealed an official launch timeline, the RS 5 is expected to arrive in India later in 2026.

The new RS 5 becomes Audi’s first-ever hybridised RS model and promises a massive leap in performance, technology and design over its predecessor. It is expected to be priced around Rs 1.5 crore, ex-showroom.

Audi RS 5 Exterior Design

The new Audi RS 5 gets a significantly more aggressive design than the standard A5. At the front, it features a massive honeycomb grille flanked by smoked Matrix LED headlights with a distinctive chequered-flag DRL signature. The bumper also incorporates large air intakes to improve cooling and aerodynamic efficiency.

Audi has widened the RS 5 by 4CM over the standard A5, giving it a more muscular stance. Flared wheel arches, gloss-black exterior detailing and standard 20-inch alloy wheels further enhance its sporty appearance. Buyers in international markets can also opt for larger 21-inch wheels and carbon-ceramic brakes.

The sloping fastback-style roofline gives the sedan a coupe-like silhouette, while the rear features connected OLED tail-lamps, a gloss-black diffuser and large oval exhaust outlets integrated into Audi’s new RS sports exhaust system.

Audi RS 5 Interior & Features

Inside, the RS 5 gets a driver-focused cabin with a sporty all-black theme accented by red trims and ambient lighting. The dashboard houses a triple-screen setup comprising an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch OLED infotainment touchscreen and a 10.9-inch passenger display.

Audi has retained physical buttons and scrollers on the steering wheel, including dedicated RS mode and boost mode controls. The boost mode delivers maximum acceleration for up to 10 seconds.

The cabin also gets premium materials including Dinamica suede upholstery and a Nappa leather-wrapped steering wheel. International models feature heated and powered bucket seats with massage functionality, while ventilated seats and a sunroof are offered as optional extras.

Audi RS 5 Engine & Performance

Powering the new Audi RS 5 is a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine paired with a plug-in hybrid system. The combustion engine alone produces 510 HP and 600 NM, while the electric motor contributes an additional 177 HP and 460 NM.

Combined output stands at an impressive 639 HP and 825 NM, making this the most powerful RS 5 ever produced.

The powertrain is paired with an 8-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox and Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system with a limited-slip centre differential. Depending on driving conditions, the system can send up to 70 percent torque to the front axle or up to 85 percent to the rear.

Audi claims a 0-100 KM/H sprint time of just 3.6 seconds.

Hybrid Technology & Electric Range

The RS 5’s plug-in hybrid system uses a 25.9 KWH battery pack capable of delivering over 80 KM of electric-only range. Audi also claims that the battery can be fully charged in approximately 2.5 hours using an 11 KW charger.

This hybrid setup not only improves efficiency but also significantly boosts performance compared to the previous-generation RS 5.

Expected India Launch & Price

Audi India has not yet announced an official launch date, but the RS 5 is expected to arrive later this year as a CBU import. The performance sedan is likely to carry an estimated ex-showroom price of around Rs 1.5 crore.

Once launched, it will sit above the now-delisted S5 Sportback and strengthen Audi’s RS performance portfolio in India.

Conclusion

The new Audi RS 5 represents a major evolution for Audi’s performance sedan lineup. With hybrid-assisted performance, bold RS styling, advanced technology and supercar-rivalling acceleration figures, the new RS 5 aims to offer a more modern and capable driving experience than ever before. Its arrival will further intensify competition in India’s premium performance car segment.
