Audi has revealed fresh details of the upcoming A2 e-tron ahead of its global debut. The electric hatchback will become the brand’s new entry-level EV. Audi also claims it will be the most energy-efficient production car in its history. The production model will debut later this year. European deliveries are expected to begin between late 2026 and early 2027.
Efficiency Takes Centre Stage

Audi designed the A2 e-tron with efficiency as its biggest priority. During preliminary WLTP testing, the hatchback achieved an energy consumption figure of 12.8 kWh/100 KM. That translates to an impressive 7.81 KM/kWh.
The optional Efficiency Package lowers energy consumption by up to 0.9 kWh/100 KM. As a result, the A2 e-tron becomes Audi’s most efficient production model to date.
Aerodynamic Design Improves Efficiency
The A2 e-tron features a drag coefficient of just 0.24. That makes it the most aerodynamic compact Audi ever produced. Audi achieved this through several aerodynamic improvements across the body.
The hatchback features a rounded front fascia, a flowing roofline, an enclosed underbody and aero-optimised alloy wheels. It also gets air curtains and an active cooling intake. The intake opens only when the battery or power electronics require additional cooling. The prototype also reveals split LED headlamps, L-shaped front air intakes and wide rectangular tail-lamps. Subtly flared wheel arches complete the design while paying tribute to the original Audi A2.
Battery, Range & Electric Motor

Audi has confirmed a 61 kWh battery pack for the entry-level A2 e-tron. It offers 58 kWh of usable battery capacity. The battery powers a rear-mounted electric motor producing 190 HP.
Based on the preliminary efficiency figures, Audi estimates a WLTP driving range of around 453 KM. The battery also uses a cell-to-pack design. This layout improves packaging efficiency and supports regular 100 percent charging without the concerns associated with some other battery chemistries.
Advanced EV Technology
Audi has upgraded several components to improve efficiency. The electric drivetrain uses silicon carbide power electronics, thinner motor laminations, revised stator windings and low-friction transmission oil. Together, these changes improve efficiency by around 10 percent compared with previous Audi electric drive systems.
The hatchback also supports Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) with up to 2.3 kW of output. It also offers Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability. These features allow owners to power compatible appliances or even their homes with suitable charging equipment.
More Variants Expected
Audi has confirmed only the 140 kW version for now. However, the company is expected to introduce more variants after launch. Since the hatchback shares its platform with the Volkswagen ID.3 Neo, future versions could receive a larger 79 kWh battery pack for an even longer driving range.
India Launch Expectations
Audi has not confirmed whether it will launch the A2 e-tron in India. However, the hatchback could become the brand’s most affordable electric vehicle if it enters the market. At present, Audi continues to focus on premium electric SUVs and luxury EVs in India.
