May 2025 is set to bring plenty of action for car enthusiasts in India, with several exciting new launches across different price brackets and segments. From practical hatchbacks to high-performance machines, brands like Tata, MG, Kia, and Volkswagen are all preparing to introduce new models. Here’s a quick look at the top 5 car launches expected this month that you should keep an eye on.

1. MG Cyberster

First on the list is the MG Cyberster GT, one of the most exciting launches expected this month. It comes with a proper sports car styling combined with modern electric performance, all at a relatively accessible price point, expected to be between ₹60–70 lakh. The Cyberster features a dual-motor setup, making it an all-wheel-drive car, with a combined output of 510 BHP and 725 Nm of torque. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds, offering a thrilling driving experience. Powering the car is a large 77 kWh battery pack, which MG claims can deliver a range of up to 443 km on a full charge.

2. Volkswagen Golf GTI

Volkswagen is all set to launch the Golf GTI in India in May 2025, likely as a CBU with an expected price of around ₹52 lakh (ex-showroom). This performance hatchback is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 261 BHP and 370 Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It can go from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and is limited to a top speed of 250 km/h. The GTI will come with features like a 12.9-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ambient lighting, triple-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof.

3. MG Windsor Long-Range

MG is set to introduce a long-range version of the Windsor EV in May 2025, equipped with a larger 50.6 kWh battery that’s expected to offer a range of around 460 km on a full charge. The motor setup will likely stay the same, producing 136 BHP and 200 Nm, with fast charging capabilities that can take the battery to 80% in just 30 minutes. Along with the upgraded battery, MG is also expected to add  Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and automatic emergency braking, with prices estimated to be ₹4 lakh higher than the current top-spec variant.

4. Tata Altroz Facelift

Tata is all set to launch the updated Altroz on May 21, 2025, with noticeable changes in design and interior. The facelift is expected to feature new bi-LED projector headlamps, updated LED turn indicators, a redesigned front bumper with vertical elements, and fresh alloy wheel designs. Inside, it may get a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, and a new two-spoke steering wheel borrowed from the Nexon. The Altroz is likely to retain its existing engine options, which include a 1.2-litre petrol, a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, a 1.5-litre diesel, and a 1.2-litre CNG version.

5. New Kia Carens

Kia is set to unveil the updated Carens, now rebranded as the Kia Clavis, on May 8, 2025. This new model introduces significant design enhancements, including a redesigned LED headlamps, a revised front bumper, and vertically stacked LED tail lamps connected by a full-width light bar. Inside, the Clavis is expected to feature dual 12.3-inch digital displays, a panoramic sunroof, and updated upholstery. Under the hood, it will retain the existing engine options: a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel, with various transmission choices including 6-speed manual, 6-speed automatic, and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The Clavis will be positioned above the current Carens, which will continue to be sold alongside it.
