MG Motor India has teased the 2026 Hector ahead of its unveil on December 15. This update represents the SUV’s second major refresh since the model entered the market in 2019. The teaser highlights noticeable changes to the front fascia, while the overall body shape remains familiar. MG appears to focus on design enhancements and feature upgrades rather than a full rework of the platform. The model will continue to be offered in five, six and seven seat configurations. With the midsize SUV segment becoming increasingly competitive, this facelift aims to help the Hector maintain relevance against newer rivals.

Exterior Features A Larger Grille And Updated Lighting

The front end of the 2026 Hector receives the most attention. MG has confirmed a newly designed grille with chrome highlights and a more prominent frame. The MG badge sits at a higher point for improved alignment with the grille’s central section. Spy shots and teasers also show vertically stacked LED headlights and updated DRLs positioned near the bumper. The lower skid plate design has been revised, giving the front a cleaner look. At the rear, the full width LED strip is expected to continue. Fresh alloy wheel patterns, possibly in dual tone, are likely to join the update along with new exterior colours. Despite these tweaks, the silhouette stays close to the outgoing model, keeping the Hector’s stance familiar.

Interior To Retain Current Layout

Inside, the Hector will likely retain its portrait oriented 14-inch touchscreen and the general dashboard structure. MG may refine the interface with updated software and new connected features. The company is also expected to improve the centre console layout for easier access to key controls. Ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and ambient lighting should remain part of the feature list. The Hector Plus will continue to offer two seating layouts, and no major changes to space or seat positioning are expected. MG may also introduce a new interior colour theme or updated trim textures to refresh the cabin. These updates aim to enhance the user experience without altering the Hector’s core design philosophy.

Existing Engines Likely To Continue

The 2026 Hector is expected to carry over its current engine options. These include a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol that develops 143 HP and 250 NM, and a 2.0-litre diesel producing 170 hp and 350 Nm. A six speed manual gearbox will continue with both engines, while the petrol will offer a CVT option. The facelift does not appear to include hybrid assistance or alternate powertrains at this stage. The updated Hector will enter a crowded market where rivals like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Tata Harrier, Mahindra XUV700 and Hyundai Alcazar compete aggressively. Launch timeline suggests that sales could begin in early 2026 once the unveil is complete.
