Toyota has introduced the Land Cruiser 300 in India. This comes shortly after a month since the Land Cruiser was removed from Toyota’s official website. A new, more offroad-focused variant has been added to the lineup, called GR-S and the Land Cruiser range now starts from 2.31Cr and goes all the way to Rs. 2.41 Crore. Bookings are now open for two variants, the ZX and GR-S.
The Land Cruiser was already a loaded SUV, with features such as 4-zone climate control, a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, front and rear seat ventilation, 8-way powered driver’s seat with manual lumbar adjust, a cooled box under the front centre armrest, 10 airbags and a 360-degree camera being present with the previous iteration. Now, the SUV additionally gets connected car tech, a digital instrument cluster, and a new gear knob with a leatherette finish. These were the additions to the ZX variant. Toyota’s connected car tech has features such as remote AC geo-location and fencing.
The offroad-focused GR-S gets some more additions apart from the ones seen on the ZX, such as a powered tailgate, front, and rear differential locks, a limited-slip differential at the rear, crawl control, hill start and descent assist, terrain modes, a four-camera offroad monitoring system, and active traction control. These features are off-road focused, enhancing the vehicle’s capabilities off the tarmac. This model also gets certain styling tweaks such as black exterior accents, a more aggressive front bumper, new black alloy wheels, and GR badging on the exterior.
Regarding safety features, both variants get Toyota’s Level 2 autonomous driving assistance system (ADAS) as standard, which includes adaptive headlights, lane keep assist, autonomous braking, and adaptive cruise control.
For now, the same 3.3L V6 diesel engine has been carried forward. This engine produces 309 BHP and 700 Nm of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed torque converter automatic gearbox which sends power to all 4 wheels.
The Land Cruiser is offered in two colour schemes namely Attitude Black and Precious Pearl White. As for the interiors, the ZX comes with a neutral beige or black colour theme and the GR-S comes with a black and dark red theme.
The Land Cruiser has no direct rivals, but the SUV is often pitched against other flagship vehicles from premium brands such as the Range Rover and Mercedes AMG G63. The Land Cruiser now costs Rs. 21 Lakh more than the outgoing model.
