Tata Motors has officially launched the 2025 Sierra in India at an introductory price of ₹11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Sierra’s complete variant-wise pricing is set to be revealed in December. Bookings for the Sierra open on December 16, with deliveries set to begin on January 15. The SUV marks the return of the Sierra nameplate after decades, but in a completely new form. It now gets multiple powertrain options and a long feature list. The new Sierra is positioned as a midsize SUV that sits above the Nexon and below the Harrier. It comes with petrol, turbo petrol and diesel engines with a FWD configuration. With this launch, Tata appears to be focusing on a wide audience that prefers SUVs with strong road presence.
Exterior Design Inspired By The Original Sierra

The Sierra shows clear influence from the concept showcased at Auto Expo. It gets a tall stance, clean shoulder lines, and a wraparound rear window design. Because modern crash norms do not allow the old model’s signature curved rear glass, Tata has recreated the effect by using a contrasting black panel above the rear window. Key dimensions include 4,340 MM length, 1,841 MM width, 1,715 MM height, 2,730 MM wheelbase and 205 MM ground clearance. The Sierra gets 622 litres of boot space, which is expandable to 1,257 litres by folding the rear seats. It features full-width LED light bars, vertically stacked LED headlamps, flush door handles and a powered tailgate. The wheel options range from 17-inch steel units to 17-19 inch alloys. The new Sierra offers a curated palette of six exterior colours. They are named Coorg Clouds, Pristine White, Munnar Mist, Pure Grey, Andaman Adventure, and Bengal Rouge.
Premium Cabin Loaded With Features

The 2025 Sierra’s cabin packs in a wide range of tech and comfort features. The dashboard houses a 12.3-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver display and a separate 12.3-inch passenger screen paired with wireless headphones. It gets Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, ventilated front seats and powered driver-seat adjustment.

Audio duties are handled by a 12-speaker JBL setup, a dashboard sound bar and Dolby Atmos support. Rear passengers get a panoramic sunroof, “Boss mode” for extra legroom, twin 65W USB-C ports, sunshades and a 60:40 rear bench with a two-step recline.

On the safety front, Tata offers six airbags, ISOFIX mounts, hill-hold assist, all-wheel disc brakes and an electronic parking brake as standard. Higher variants add a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, ABS with EBD and a Level 2+ ADAS suite with 22 functions. Given Tata’s consistent Bharat NCAP performance, the Sierra will likely secure a 5-star safety rating as well.
Two Petrol Engines Along With A Diesel Option

The 2025 Sierra offers three engine choices, starting with Tata’s new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. It delivers 160 HP and 255 NM, paired with an AISIN-sourced 6-speed automatic. A new 1.5-litre NA petrol is also available, producing 106 HP and 145 NM. It is available with either a 6-speed MT or a 7-speed DCT. The diesel option uses Tata’s familiar 1.5-litre Kryojet unit, making 118 HP and offered with a 6-speed MT (260 NM) or a 6-speed automatic (280 NM). The Sierra sits on Tata’s new ARGOS platform, adaptable to multiple body styles and fuels. It is capable of supporting CNG and hybrid, as well as both FWD and AWD layouts. The Sierra currently remains a front-wheel-drive SUV.
Market Positioning

With its starting price of ₹11.49 lakh, the Sierra enters a competitive space. It takes on models like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and Honda Elevate. Tata is positioning the Sierra alongside the Curvv for customers who want a modern SUV with strong features. The final pricing announcement in December will determine its exact placement across variants, but early interest will likely be strong. If the company manages to offer aggressive pricing across trims, the 2025 Sierra could become one of the most important models in Tata’s lineup.
