2025 Renault Kiger Facelift: Updates Without Major Advancements

3 min read

Renault has launched the updated Kiger facelift in India at a starting price of Rs 6.30 Lakh (ex-showroom), increasing marginally over the previous model. The compact SUV remains available in four trims, Authentic, Evolution, Techno, and Emotion. The overall mechanical layout, dimensions, and engine options have not changed from the outgoing version.

What It Gets Over The Older Kiger

The 2025 Kiger facelift carries minor design changes, such as new bumpers with silver accents, an updated Renault logo, and slightly reworked headlamp and fog lamp clusters. It offers new alloy wheel designs and a few additional features inside, like a dual-tone dashboard finish and new colored stitching. Some features, like ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera, are available only on higher variants. Safety additions include six airbags and ESP as standard, but these mainly serve to bring the model in line with current legal and competitive requirements. Most cabin elements, seating layout, boot space, and rear seat arrangements stay unchanged. Some feature additions, such as wireless phone charging, are only present in the top Emotion trim, rather than standard across the range.

Colour Options

A new yellow paint and updated graphics are available, increasing the number of available colours to seven. For Turbo variants, a dual-tone roof scheme comes at no extra cost, higher NA variants require an additional payment for the dual-tone option. The palette changes primarily serve as cosmetic refreshes, no structural alterations are associated with these options.

Exterior Design

The Kiger’s facelift introduces modest changes to its exterior. The front and rear bumpers are redesigned with silver accents and an updated 2D Renault logo. The headlamps and fog lamps have a revised look, and new 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels are included. Yellow and grey have been added to the paint palette, and Turbo variants get dual-tone colours at no extra cost, while other variants require an additional payment for dual-tone options. Functional updates to the roof rails are limited and largely cosmetic. The overall shape and dimensions, including boot capacity and ground clearance, are unchanged. Most bodywork revisions serve as minor stylistic refreshes rather than substantive updates.

Interior Design

The 2025 Renault Kiger facelift features a cabin layout that is essentially unchanged from its predecessor, retaining the same basic dashboard structure, seat configuration, and boot space. The primary updates are cosmetic, with the addition of a dual-tone dashboard in black and grey, yellow stitching on the seats and gear knob, and a few new material finishes. Ventilated front seats and a 360-degree camera are now available, but only on the highest trim levels. Wireless charging and an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen remain limited to upper variants, so not all buyers benefit from these updates. Noise insulation improvements have been claimed, but the overall seating comfort and spaciousness are unchanged. Most core features and controls remain the same as prior models, lacking major advancements in interior ergonomics or technology.

Powertrain

The engine options remain the same as the previous model, with a 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 72HP and 96NM, and a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine making 100HP and 160NM. Transmission choices include a 5-speed manual, a 5-speed AMT, and a CVT. There are no improvements in power, torque output, or claimed fuel efficiency with this update. The car’s driving characteristics thus remain the same, with no mechanical advancements in engine or chassis across the facelift.

Features & Safety

While six airbags, ESP, tyre pressure monitoring, and hill start assist are now standard, there are no innovations beyond what is already widely available in competitors. The basic features, such as rear AC vents, cruise control, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, wireless phone charging, and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, are only found in the upper Techno and Emotion trims, which means buyers of lower trims do not benefit from most updates.

Pricing

Prices for the updated Kiger range from Rs 6.30 Lakh (base Authentic MT, NA engine) to Rs 11.30 lakh (top Emotion CVT, Turbo), with small increases over the outgoing model. Dual-tone paint remains a paid option on certain trims, and some mid-level Techno and Emotion Turbo variants see inconsequential price rises, indicating minimal value-addition in relation to existing competition.

Rivals

The 2025 Renault Kiger continues to compete in the sub-4 metre SUV segment with the same set of rivals. Key competitors include the Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, Toyota Taisor, and Skoda Kylaq. Among these, both the Kiger and Magnite share the same CMF-A+ platform and identical engine options, with similar pricing and overlapping feature lists. The Magnite offers a wider variant spread and slightly different dimensions, but otherwise presents negligible differences in terms of real-world usability. Other competitors offer variants with more distinct styling, hybrid options, or alternative feature sets, but the Kiger’s facelift does not introduce any new technology or performance advantage to challenge established segment leaders.

Final Word

The 2025 Renault Kiger facelift incorporates minor visual changes and feature realignment but does not introduce significant advancements in engine technology, functionality, or cabin ergonomics. Most changes serve cosmetic or regulatory purposes, with limited meaningful impact on overall driving experience or value compared to competitors. No major innovation or improvement over the older Kiger is found in this mid-cycle update.
