Mahindra has launched the 2025 iteration of its long-standing utility vehicles, the Bolero and Bolero Neo. The updated Bolero brings subtle design tweaks, a new variant, and a notable price reduction. The Bolero now starts at ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom), becoming more affordable than before. This makes it the most affordable ladder-frame SUV currently on sale in the market. Mahindra appears to have repositioned the Bolero to strengthen its value-for-money appeal. The price reduction of nearly ₹25,000 to ₹80,000 depending on the variant suggests a strategy to sustain sales momentum against modern rivals.

New B8 Variant Expands The Lineup
A major update for 2025 is the introduction of a new B8 variant for the Bolero. This new trim becomes the the top-end model, offering a better mix of comfort and practicality. It includes body-colored bumpers, new 15-inch alloy wheels, fog lamps and a revised grille pattern that aligns it more closely with Mahindra’s newer design language. For the first time since its launch, the Bolero features a touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by steering-mounted controls. It even gets a USB-C charging port, leatherette upholstery and bottle holders on the doors.

The Bolero still comes with dual airbags on all trims. Mahindra has also added a new exterior colour shade to the Bolero, named Stealth Black. The Bolero retains its utilitarian essence rather than focusing on luxury, which continues to be a key reason for its popularity in semi-urban and rural markets.

The table below shows the price list of the 2025 Mahindra Bolero:
| Variant | Price (ex-showroom) |
|---|---|
| B4 | ₹7.99 lakh |
| B6 | ₹8.69 lakh |
| B6 (O) | ₹9.09 lakh |
| B8 | ₹9.69 lakh |
Powertrain & Performance Remain Same
Under the hood, the Bolero continues with its proven diesel powertrain. It uses a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder mHawk75 diesel engine producing 75 HP and 210 NM of torque. It is paired only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. It retains its rear-wheel-drive and body-on-frame setup. Since its launch, the Bolero has been all about durability and low-end torque rather than outright performance. Mahindra claims that it has improved the ride and handling balance of the Bolero in this 2025 update. The fuel efficiency and ruggedness remains same as the previous generation, a key factor that buyers of this segment consider.

Market Outlook
With the 2025 update, Mahindra seems intent on reaffirming the Bolero brand’s dominance in the rural and semi-urban SUV space. The lower starting prices and minor upgrades makes the Bolero more competitive against other compact SUVs. The Bolero’s tough build and low running costs continue to attract buyers in semi-urban and rural markets. Mahindra’s decision to retain mechanical simplicity while refreshing the design indicates a focus on sustainability rather than reinvention. As of now, the Bolero does not have a direct rival, being the only sub-4M body-on-frame SUV at its price point.
