2 min read

Land Rover’s Discovery Sport is getting a refresh for 2025. The new lineup introduces two special editions—Metropolitan and Landmark—alongside a host of curated accessory packs and updated features aimed at making the Discovery Sport more individual and dynamic.

What’s New: Metropolitan And Landmark Editions

The 2025 Discovery Sport range now starts with the visually enhanced Dynamic S trim and is topped by the Metropolitan and Landmark editions.

  • Metropolitan Edition:
The new flagship draws inspiration from the larger Discovery Metropolitan, featuring exclusive Atlas Silver badging, Indus Silver front and rear undershields, and 20-inch Diamond Turned alloys. Inside, Windsor Leather seats with 14-way electric adjustment, a 650 W Meridian surround system, and features like the Clear-sight Rear View Mirror and Cabin Air Purification Plus.
  • Landmark Edition:
This variant pays homage to Discovery’s adventurous history, sporting the classic mountain range logo on treadplates and illuminated puddle lamps. Practicality is considered to be the focus here: slide-and-recline second-row seats, a panoramic sunroof, Click & Go media holders, and a Surround View Camera are all standard. Roof rails and versatile seating configurations (up to seven seats) play to the Landmark’s family-first credentials.

Curated Accessory Packs

Recognising that Discovery Sport owners use their cars for everything from school runs to road trips and beach holidays, Land Rover has introduced new accessory packs for example:

  • Beach Days: Cooler in the centre armrest, sunshades, and a collapsible load organiser.
  • Road Trip: Rear seat media holders, cross bars, and a roof box for extra luggage.
  • Snow Days: Ski/snowboard carriers, rubber mats, and a snow traction system, plus cross bars for up to four pairs of skis.
  • Biking Adventures/For Dogs: Returning packs for cycling enthusiasts and pet owners.

These options showcase Land Rover’s push to make the Discovery Sport seem like a lifestyle companion.

Tech And Interior

Across the range, the Discovery Sport now features a digital instrument cluster, steering-mounted gear paddles, and an 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen running the latest Pivi Pro infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and most key controls are accessible within two taps from the home screen. It boasts stadium-style seating, panoramic roof, and up to 24 seat configurations.

Powertrains: Plug-In Hybrid, Petrol, And Diesel

  • Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV):
The P300e variant pairs a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering a combined 309 PS and up to 61 KM (WLTP) of electric-only range. Fast DC charging (0–80% in 30 minutes) and a claimed 2.1L/100 KM fuel consumption make it a strong choice.
  • Mild-Hybrid Petrol (MHEV):
Options include the P200 (200 PS) and P250 (249 PS), both with all-wheel drive and 8.2L/100 KM combined consumption.
  • Diesel (MHEV):
The D165 (163 PS) and D200 (204 PS) offer up to 6.1L/100 KM and robust towing capacity (up to 2,500 KG)

All variants come with all-wheel drive and automatic transmissions.

Practicality

The Discovery Sport remains one of the few SUVs in its class to offer up to seven seats. It has upto 1,794 litres of boot space (five-seat configuration), a sliding and reclining second row, and a maximum wading depth of 600 MM. The SUV’s compact footprint (4,597 MM length) and a kerb-to-kerb turning circle of 11.8 M reduce the hassle of city travel.

Verdict

With the Metropolitan and Landmark editions, Land Rover is targeting luxury-oriented buyers and families who demand real-world versatility. The curated accessory packs and a good engine lineup might cement its position as a SUV that will look the part and live up to somewhat of an adventurous lifestyle.

With prices starting at £45,440 OTR (for the UK), the refreshed Discovery Sport is expected for the Indian Market by late 2025 to early 2026.
