This is the last round of questions and answers for the time being. This feature will be back but not in the immediate future. So here we go again.
Ajith Mathews wrote “Which is a better buy for personal use. Why do i see more Scorpio on roads though safari feels more comfortable.”
Ajith, if you are looking for personal use then neither is good, the Innova is a better choice. The reason why you see more Scorpios on road is simple, it looks good and is priced more aggresively than the Safari. The Safari is a old design, people are bored of it now. Its the same 12 year old face, unchanged but given a few botox doses in between.
Anil Karira wrote “I am planning to a buy a hatchback in few days I am very confused my budget is 9 lacs. I have shortlisted i20, Jazz, Ritz. Please tell me which is best in terms of comfort, styling, power and engine reliability and what about
maintenance cost for hyundai i20 and how is interior quality of i20.”
Anil, since you have a good healthy budget you should look at either the Jazz or the i20. Both cars will serve you well but the Jazz is more comfortable. The Honda scores on reliability and maintenance as well. Interior quality of the i20 is top notch and maintenance is not the cheapest but the petrol engine lack outright power. I would suggest you get the Honda Jazz with your eyes closed.
Yovich Sharma wrote “Which car should I buy from i10, i20, Swift, Beat, Punto or Polo?”
If you can wait, then wait for the Volkswagen Polo. It seems to be the best of the rest and has received 2010 international Car of the year award.
Abhishek Sharma wrote “I wanna buy a car and I am very confused that Indigo Manza is better or Swift DZire? I like manza but I don’t know the market report of Manza. Please can you suggest me which car is better and why?”
The Indigo Manza is a very value for money car. It uses a more powerful version of the DZire engine and is undoubtedly a better buy on parameters such as features, comfort, braking and boot space. You should take a test drive of both cars and see for youself which you like more.
Karan Rughani wrote “I am a first time buyer and am double minded on my choice between Maruti Suzuki Ritz or Chevrolet Beat. I liked what Chevrolet Beat has to offer but going by the reliability aspect, Maruti Suzuki is the most trusted brand and its spares and service is unmatched.”
Karan, there is no doubt nobody can beat Maruti’s service network. However the Beat comes a whopping Rs. 50,000/- cheaper than the Ritz. If price no issue get the Ritz and enjoy the peace of mind of your fast car.
Seeni wrote “I am planning to buy used Hyundai Accent, as i felt it would be comfortable for my family of 5 adults. My budget is around 2 – 2.5 Lakhs. Please tell me is this a good choice? Also please tell me what to look for when buying used Hyundai Accent?”
The Hyundai Accent is a old car, you should look at something more exciting. In your budget you can get a used Honda City (2002 model) which is a highly reliable and exciting machine. When you go for a Accent ensure you get the whole car checked by Hyundai before paying the seller.
Sreedhar wrote “I have narrowed my serach to Linea T Jet ( Petrol 1.4 L) an Honda City. Which one would you advise to buy? What is ists likely on road price and city mileage ? Is after sales service going to be still and issue in Bangalore?”
Sreedhar if you are looking for mileage in a turbocharged petrol vehicle, please don’t. The Linea T-Jet is not for mileage seekers but for speed freaks. I would advise the Linea as I find it a much better machine with very good braking, handling and stability. Mileage of both the cars vary from 8-10kmpl depending on driving conditions. Fiat A.S.S. is improving and shouldn’t be an issue in major cities like Bangalore.
Sivakumar wrote “I have chosen Swift , but now confused between Petrol(ZXi) or Diesel(VDi with ABS). My average monthly usage will be 600-800 kms. Which variant would be the best choice for me?”
For that kind of running you should opt for a diesel car but just. The diesel is more fun to drive, cheaper on the wallet and easier to sell. Get the Swift VDi with ABS.
Pratyush wrote “Which car should i buy.? Fiat Punto Dynamic (Petrol), Hyundai i20 (Magna) or Maruti Suzuki Swift VXI with ABS.”
Pratyush, what are you looking at? If fuel efficiency get the Swift otherwise you can think of the i20 which is one of the safest cars in India. The Punto is a emotional purchase, it rides, handles and steers like a dream and would be my pick.
P. Sandeep wrote “I am planning to buy new car i20 Magna. I want to know is there any major tech issue in this car/model.”
No Sandeep, there is no tech issue in the i20 reported yet. However incase anything of that sort comes in the future, Hyundai will always be there to take care of it for you. Just ensure you take extended warranty.
