Q1) I am looking to buy a hatchback car. I liked the i20 but people tell me that
the swift is better in the long run. I am confused. I am looking at petrol savings,
looks, comfort and maintenance.
Rohan, if you are opting for petrol, get the i20 eyes closed, the car is exceptional and offers alot of value.
Q1) I have recently started driving. Planning to buy a car Would want to travel to office (50km travel) after few months. Second hand car deals from authorised dealers are costing me in range of 2.35-2.85L while new cars are available at 3.5-4 range. Will buying a new car be better deal even for learners ? Should i go for CNG option since I planning to drive to work in 5-6 months. Some say not to buy CNG for starters. I hv short listed Santro zing GLS,New WagonR CNG, New WagonR Vxi and Spark LT. Please advice.
Gayatri, I would suggest you opt for a new car only as old car needs to be checked thoroughly for problems, which being a beginner you won’t be able to. Factory fitted CNG cars won’t give you any problem at all and I would suggest you opt for the new WagonR CNG. You should go through a driving course, Maruti Driving School is one of the best places to do so.

Q) I am planning to buy a car. My range is of 6 lacs. Comparing all the features can you suggest me which is better MARUTI SWIFT DZIRE VXI AND TOYOTA ETIOS G
Prateek Asthana, The Toyota Etios is a better buy. Both cars looks very bland and lack any aesthetic appeal, but the Toyota boasts of fantastic space. Also a new version of the Swift DZire is in the works and will be launched early next year.
Toyota has shocked every one by launching the Etios at Rs. 4.96 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). I am wondering if the sedan is so competitively priced, what will happen to the hatckback? Agreed, the Etios looks plain boring, but compared to the DZire, its not much uglier. Will you consider buying an Etios? Will you give it a second look? Just the Toyota badge is enough to sell any car, no matter how it looks, and yes Toyota cars have always looked boring, so the Etios is no different.
HM-Mitsubishi have finally launched the Evo X in India. The Lancer Evo X reaches 100kmph in 6.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 280kmph. But the pricing is a bit disappointing at Rs. 49.95 lakhs, ex-showroom, Delhi. The completely built unit route is the reason to blame. What do you think, will the Evo sell? Me thinks it will flop just like almost all cars from their stable do!
Who was Formula One rookie of the year in 2011? Nico Hulkenberg would be one contender following his pole position in Brazil, but generally he was slower than team-mate Barrichello and therefore failed to live up to the hype surrounding him. Petrov and Senna and Di Grassi were three other rookies which also failed to meet expectations after strong performances in GP2. The other GP2 graduate in 2010 was Karun Chandhok. Having been soundly beaten by team-mate Senna in the past, no one expected much from the Indian driver who was perceived to be driving for Hispania due to the money he provided. The fact that he was replaced by Yamamoto mid season proved this theory to be inaccurate, as it was admitted that Yamamoto was helping bring a much needed $500,000 per race to the struggling Spanish team.
SkodaAuto has launched the Yeti today and have priced it at Rs. 14.98 lakhs (ex showroom, Maharashtra). Skoda Yeti has a 2.0 litre TDI engine from the Laura and produces 140 bhp of power at 4200 rpm. All that said, I feel that Skoda has managed to price the Yeti too high. It should not have costed more than Rs. 10 lakhs at best For Rs. 15 lakhs, the options are endless. You can buy a Civic, Cruze or even a Aria. What do you feel, will the Yeti sell? Or will it be a disaster, just like the Fabia.
