Fiat Linea

New Fiat Linea, the sedan car launched about a month back has already become a stunning beauty on roads perfectly fitting to its tagline ‘admiration guaranteed’. The very interesting features as soon as you glance at the Linea is its classic looks that keep your eyes stuck. Great majority of car makers seem to trim down the grill size to give car cleaner, sharper and more aerodynamic looks. The new Fiat Linea, for an exception has a big front grille, almost extending down to the bumper thus rendering some retro-class looks and the uncompromisable aerodynamics will woo car lovers of this generation. I appreciate the Fiat to have arrived at such a style quotient; maybe generated from mixing some jaguars that had aggressive styling and looks. I was indeed never ever in my life a fan of Fiat or any of its other car variants, but the new Linea seems to be so stunning in all honesty.

Fiat Linea

FIAL (Fiat India Automobiles Ltd a Pune based joint venture between Fiat and Tata Motors) launched the new generation sedan, Fiat Linea during the mid January 2009. Linea in fact doesn’t fit into the mid-car segment nor does it fit into luxury segment. It comes in between for the unique styling and looks, comfort, performance, and other features including security. The car is an inspiration from Fiat’s predecessor Fiat Grande Punto.

This mid-sized luxury sedan is already creating a buzz in the automobile circles and with a perfect blend of styling and comfort powerful engine that delivers great performance. Fiat certainly brought a winner and with a bang this year. If industry rumors are to be believed the new Fiat Linea will be adjudged as the car of the year. FIAT promises to live up to the expectations of the Indian buyers. Linea for sure reveals the Italian roots with respect to styling and design.

Fiat Linea Engine: The new Fiat Linea has three engine variants – 1.4L Fire, 1.4L 16v T-jet and 1.3L 16v multijet. It delivers the maximum power 78 PS@6000 rpm and with peak torque 115 Nm@3000 rpm. Linea has acceleration of 0-100kmph in 14.6 seconds time, and the maximum speed achievable is 220km/hour. With a powerful engine Linea still promises to be fuel-efficient car.

Linea Design: Elegant and unique design will be the USP of the new Fiat Linea. Fiat’s design team created one stunner sedan to deliver to the requirements of Indian car buyers. Linea features snazzy-flowing bodyline. Headlights look like projector (but still add beauty to its face), big muscled front grille is another attraction (although, I believe it exposes the radiator to atmosphere a little more). The fog lamps are clear lens type and the rear has impressive boot offering good comfort to 5 passengers.

Linea Interiors: A sneak peek inside Linea and you will be surprised that the interiors are as stunning as exteriors. The cabin is big and roomy, offeringFita Linea Interiors lavish space for driver as well as passengers. The rear seats can be folded to open into the passage. It suits if one is carrying a big and lengthy item. The instrument cluster is integrated into the dashboard. Linea has rear seats too with headrests to give that added comfort to rear seat passengers. Passenger seat upholstery doesn’t look quite impressive though material wise as well as thickness wise that in my opinion might result in hampered comfort especially on those long journeys. I doubt FIAL’s claim that new Linea has superior quality materials used for the interiors.

I own a Linea Emotion Pack Diesel for 3 months now and I am very happy with it. Ride and halndling is excellent and steering response is very good. I did not find the car to be lacking in pull or power (please note that I was previously owning Fiesta and Santro) On highways it is just amazing Even at 150 it does not feel “offground” and gives you a real solid feel
